**Protecting Our Future**

Welcome to the NARFE Cumberland County Tennessee Chapter. Chapter 1719 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees invites area active or retired federal employees, and their spouses, to join them for interesting and informative meetings held several months of each year.

Most of our meetings are at 12 Noon at a local restaurnt on the second Tuesday of the month in January, March, May, October (see dates below). No reservations are necessary - guests are welcome. Spouses are urged to attend.

Chapter President, Ellie Kellermann (931-707-8542) would be happy to provide further information.

In addition to keeping members informed about issues affecting employment and retirement, the tens of thousands members of NARFE share a common goal in raising funds for Alzheimer’s Research, a disease affecting nearly every family in the USA in some manner.  Local member and chair, Ron Getz, conducts fund raising activities for the project at every meeting and keeps members current on the effort.

All chapter members are encouraged to attend and participate. Meeting times and locations are subject to change, call ahead to confirm a particular meeting. Your support is vital to the continued success of our chapter and the NARFE organization.

More information about NARFE can be found on the Federation and National websites: use the buttons above.

Guests and potential members are always welcome to attend. Please plan to join us as at an upcoming meeting. You are encouraged to join NARFE and add your support to protect the benefits we all have worked for. To learn more about how to become a member of NARFE, click on the link to the left.

Details of meeting location: If not noted differently above:
Members of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees
(NARFE) are advised that the next meeting location is choosen at each meeting. Meeting time is noon, then the business session is after lunch.

Latest News:  Members, prospective members, current and retired federal employees are invited to join the members of Chapter 1719 of The National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) for lunch in the lounge of Vegas Steak House on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at noon.  Reservations are not required.  Guests and spouses are most welcome.

President Ellie Kellermann, has invited Robert Ellis, a representative of the AARP Foundation, as the guest speaker.  His topic will be very appropriate at this time of year…tax aid.  Bring your questions and concerns – there have been some changes which may affect some, or all, of us.

Secretary, Wyonne Morningstar, is the Chapter’s delegate to the NARFE Tennessee Federation Convention in Jackson, TN, in April.

Current and retired federal employees will be interested in NARFE’s Reaction to President Trump’s FY19 Budget and its unprecedented attacks on Federal Employees and Retirees.  NARFE Members are urged to go on-line and read the 2/12/18 release by NARFE Headquarters.  It reads in part: ‘While the president has touted how his tax overhaul will deliver tax cuts for Americans, those cuts will soon vanish for federal workers through his proposed increase in retirement contributions.  Money that was set to flow back to federal workers – like all Americans – will be quickly stripped away for no additional benefit.’

Come back here to learn about future meetings as details are released.
